Our award-winning leader wears a lot of hats– brewer, husband, dad x 3, entrepreneur, athlete, volunteer, guitarist….the list goes on. With 15 years of home brewing experience, Wayne is Monkey Wrench Brewing’s founder and brew scientist. In 2000, he founded BaxTek Solutions, a software and barcode/RFID technology company. This business led Wayne to get heavily involved with beer and beverage distributors at numerous trade shows to help track inventory and kegs. This was about the same time he and his home brew friends from Snellville’s New London Brew Club helped him build a new 10 gallon all-grain RIMS brewing system.
A tennis match in the summer of 2011 delivered Wayne a serious wrist injury. Giving the courts a break, Wayne dedicated his free time to mastering the home brew recipes for pursuing his dreams of going pro. Since then, he has earned multiple home brew awards, established a regional presence, and has been featured in newspapers including Southern Brew News, Craftbeer.com, and the Snellville Patch.
Joe is the company’s POC for all things visual. He acts as our branding man, photographer, web director, event hypeman, and design specialist. Working closely with Wayne since 2011, he has been a key player in growing the Monkey Wrench Brewing brand. Born in PA and raised in GA, Joe is a freelance artist and craft beer enthusiast. His resume includes a focus on graphic design and communications with previous roles at Georgia Tech and many local Atlanta startups. As MWB’s Media Monkey, Joe is also the dude making sure our social media machines are well-oiled..

A true hophead, Ashton is known for sharing his deep passion for great beers. In the early 90′s, he made personal beer runs to Nashville in order to share hard-to-find releases with the locals back home. After a decade of working with Scientific Atlanta and being introduced to homebrewing, Ashton decided to pursue his goal of becoming involved in the South’s craft beer scene. In addition to his role here, Ashton is a successful beer buyer/retailer for a local package store that boasts one of the best selections in Metro Atlanta. We are proud to call him our “Kong of Sales.”

Adam’s passion for craft beer began while attending UGA as a graduate student and leading brewery tours for Terrapin Brewing Co. A home brewer himself for eight years now, Adam’s interest in craft beer has transitioned into jobs representing two European breweries in the Atlanta area in a sales and promotions capacity. Adam has worked in just about every beer festival in the city and he has led countless sales promotions in retail and restaurant venues, all the while building strong relationships with industry insiders. He’s got jokes too!
Doug is our official quality assurance man. He is a graduate of the Masters Brewers Program in Malting, Brewing Science & Engineering at UC Davis. He was once Head Brewer at Cherokee Brewing Company and Percy’s Fish House & Brewery. In addition, Doug has brewed at Rock Bottom Brewery and Rubicon Brewery in Sacramento, CA. He knows his beer and, you bet, we’re glad he is on board! When he is away from the grains, Doug enjoys spending time with his family.
